Wheel of Misfortune

Each of the interiors depicts a different scene within a hospital environment, which leads the viewer through the potential patient pathway from diagnosis, admission, operating theatre, discharge ‘departure’ lounge, rehabilitation unit or mortuary and chapel of rest. The structure resembles a time-worn water wheel and it grinds along haltingly and emits a creaking sound reflecting the effort involved in maintaining an organisation as large as the NHS.
